Program Summary:

The landscape for employers is changing faster than the Texas weather with the advent of the new administration.  In this session, we will discuss the biggest changes affecting employers to date, what to do to address the shifting expectations and requirements, and the anticipated changes on the horizon.  More important than your Old Farmer’s Almanac, this session will help you plant the most prosperous seeds for your Company, and your business partners.


Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the latest changes in employment law affecting their work;
  • Learn the best techniques and policies to address recent laws and guidance;
  • Proactively anticipate the administration’s initiatives.


    Speaker Bio: 

    Michael J. DePonte is a Principal in, and the Litigation Manager for, the Dallas office of Jackson Lewis P.C.  He is Board Certified in both Labor and Employment Law, as well as Civil Trial Law, by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization – one of only 25 attorneys with both Certifications.

    Mr. DePonte has an extensive litigation and trial background, having tried numerous cases in state and federal courts in Texas and represented employers all the way to the Supreme Court.  He also provides his clients with general advice and counseling on a broad range of employment and labor issues, prepares and presents training seminars to clients, and presented at multiple employment law seminars and human resources workshops in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico where he is also licensed.  


    Recertification Credit

    SHRM Certification has approved this event for 1 PDCs toward SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP recertification. A program code will be provided at the end of the meeting. The program also meets recertification credit standards set by the HR Certification Institute and other HR certifying bodies, but candidates must manually enter their activity into their records.
