Topic: My Company's Success Depends on Engaged Conversations
Program Description:
There is a constant debate in the Human Resources arena around if performance reviews actually work. My presentation will be an interactive program that focuses on the basics of performance reviews, goal setting, and applying them to a company's mission and strategic plan. In addition, we will focus on where the rubber meets the road, which is the conversation and relationship with the individual. Although the intentions presented many times the best performance review may end up in a high performing individual feeling undervalued, disrespected, and unappreciated by an organization and supervisor. The end goal is that participants will have the ability to determine what type of evaluation their organization is best suited and how to equip operational leaders with the ability to develop SMARTER goals resulting in increased engagement, profit, and reduced turnover.
Speaker Biography:
I started my journey in Human Resources by pursuing my BBA in Management with an emphasis in Human Resources from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. I immediately plunged into the Human Resources pool working as a staffing specialist for a local employment agency moving up to Operating Partner for seven years, during which time I was exposed to how many different organizations perform the Human Resources function. I continued my Human Resources career as the Director of Human Resources for Hospice of Wichita Falls for eleven years prior to assuming my current role of Vice President of Human Resources at Work Services Corporation. Throughout all my years of experience I have found that one common thread no matter what the industry if you treat people with respect and dignity you will obtain excellent results. I have served on many community organizations including Tau Kappa Epsilon International Fraternity, Founding member of the MSU student chapter of SHRM, WFHRMA SHRM, Texas State SHRM, Deacon of First Baptist Church, and Rider Band and Orchestra Parent Association. I obtained my PHR in 2008 and SHRM SCP in 2017. I have been married to the love of my life Amy Propp for 23 years this June. I am the father of two boys, Aiden (16) and Beckett (13). I enjoy watching people realize their potential and grow personally and professionally. I have recently stepped back from many activities to focus on being present with my family and enjoying watching my boys grow into young men.
