    About Our Speaker:

Penny Miller is the owner of My HR Department, which provides HR outsourcing and consulting to small businesses. Her passion is training and coaching supervisors and managers to bring out the best in their people.

Penny is a 21-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Her final assignment was at Sheppard Air Force Base, where she served as the Mission Support Squadron Commander (translation: the person in charge of HR for the installation). After leaving the Air Force, she did executive search for general contracting companies and then moved to a large multi-specialty clinic as the Director of HR. She started her company in 2008. The lessons in leadership and perseverance she learned in the Air Force have helped her build a successful business.

Penny maintains professional certifications as SHRM-SCP and SPHR. In addition to her HR consulting work, she is an adjunct instructor for Wayland Baptist University and Midwestern State University, teaching management and HR courses. She has written two books about front-line leadership, Winning the War for Profit, and Leadership in the Trenches.

She is active in the community, serving on multiple nonprofit boards and city boards and commissions. She and her husband, Bryan, have been married for 42 years, have two adult, married children and two perfect grandchildren.
