The Why & How"



Guest Speaker:  Dr. Niyati Kataria, Associate Professor of Management - Dillard College of Business - Midwestern State University


Program Description:  Discussion on what kinds of diversity impact organizations and how to think about navigating it.


In this session you will learn:


  • Learn about the kinds of diversity that can exist in organizations
  • Pointers on the “right mindset”
  • Pointers on potential landmines to avoid /what not to do


    Speaker Biography

    Dr. Niyati Kataria is a tenured Associate Professor of Management at Midwestern State University, Texas, where she teaches subjects related to human motivation and performance. Additionally she serves as a faculty mentor to several professional organizations on campus. Dr. Kataria has over 11 years of experience in teaching at the university level and providing training to corporations. She has worked with United Nations sponsored non-profits in Geneva and several nonprofits in Texas providing training towards employee and volunteer motivation. She has served as a Board member for the Nonprofit Center of Wichita Falls for over 4 years. She specializes in delivering training around the topics of emotional intelligence, stress management, stereotype/bias recognition and management etc. Before her career in academia, Dr. Kataria was working as an H.R. professional in executive search in India. She has lived in Dubai, India the United States and is an avid traveler with an international mindset. In 2016, Dr. Kataria earned recognition from Times Record News as one of the “20 under 40” in Wichita Falls, Texas. In 2017 Dr. Kataria won “Faculty of the Year” at Midwestern State University. She is a published author with several articles in international academic journals and has won an award for Best Paper at a national academic conference in 2016. She has been interviewed several times by local TV stations in Wichita Falls for her research insight into motivation. Dr. Kataria has a Bachelors in Computer Science and a Master of Business Administration from universities in Delhi, India and a Ph.D. in Management (with a focus in Organizational Psychology) from Pennsylvania State University in the United States. She has been a speaker, moderator and lecturer at numerous universities and conferences.
