Topic:  HR's Role in Organizational Ethics
Program Description:       
Summary: 
Building and maintaining an ethical organizational culture requires focus, perseverance and appropriate policies and procedures.  HR has a key role in helping organizations develop internal controls and governance structures to ensure ethical behavior by corporate managers and employees.  This session will review actions from designing ethics compliance programs to developing appropriate talent management structures. 
Objectives:  
  • Understand the common ethical issues in organizations and their relationship to HR
  • Know compliance requirements of the Federal Sentencing Guidelines
  • Understand talent management and risk management strategies to develop an ethical organization

    Speaker Biography:

Penny Miller, SHRM-CP, SPHR, CEBS, brings over 25 years experience as a Human Resource professional in varied environments.

During her career as an Air Force officer, Penny had the opportunity to work in a variety of positions, applying HR techniques under many different situations and circumstances. Since her departure from the military, she has continued her career in executive search and corporate HR. She currently leads Venture HRO, LLC, specializing in providing HR services and consulting to small business.

Penny is recognized for her HR expertise. She has a Masters in Management from Troy State University and completed certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) in 1997. In 2010 she completed all requirements for the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist program (CEBS). And in 2014, she became one of the first to be recognized with the new Society for Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification.

She is an adjunct instructor, teaching management courses for Wayland Baptist University and Midwestern State University.

A graduate of Leadership Wichita Falls, Penny serves on a variety of City Boards and Commissions and on non-profit boards.
