Guest Speaker: Emily Kincaid

Topic: Domestic Violence and the Workplace

Program Description: The Domestic Violence and the Workplace presentation will educate Human Resource professionals about the dynamics of domestic violence, how domestic violence presents itself in the workplace, and how employers may help. Upon completion of the presentation, participants will have a better understanding of the cycle of abuse, different forms of abuse, signs that an employee may be a victim of domestic violence, and what employers can do to help.

Speaker Biography: Emily Kincaid has been a member of the First Step team since September 2014. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in both psychology and sociology from Midwestern State University in 2010. Emily worked as a Registration Representative in the Emergency Room for four years before joining the First Step team. Serving as the Professional Trainer at First Step, Inc., Emily's duties include educating professionals in the twelve counties served by First Step, assisting with hotline calls for the First Step shelter, accompanying survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault to the hospital, and providing many forms of advocacy for First Step clients.
